Our under-sink drinking water filter fuses cutting-edge filtration technologies to achieve industry-leading performance and supply your home with great-tasting water.

How Do Under Sink Water Filter Systems Work?

Just like the name implies, an under-sink water filtration unit is installed under your sink. When you turn on your faucet, water passes through an activated carbon filter and travels to a separate water tap next to the main faucet.

Activated carbon filters are the best way to remove certain chemicals, particularly volatile organic compounds, from water. They also eliminate the substances that give water a bad odor or taste such as hydrogen sulfide (that rotten egg odor) and chlorine. [1]

Activated carbon is made from raw organic materials (such as coconut shells or coal) that are high in carbon. Heat, in the absence of oxygen, is used to increase (activate) the surface area of the carbon, which is why these filters are sometimes called “charcoal” filters. The activated carbon traps and absorbs chemicals, letting only great-tasting, filtered water pass through your faucet.

Eventually, the filter traps as much of the contaminants as it can hold and will need to be changed. How often the filter should be changed depends on contaminant levels and water use. On average, most carbon filters will last for six months to a year.

Benefits of Filtered Tap Water

Saves money

On average, bottled water is about 1000 times more expensive than tap water. Installing a quality water filter quickly pays for itself. [2]

Saves the Environment

Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans. A sizable portion of that is in the form of plastic bottles. Additionally, bottled water has to be shipped great distances, wasting fuel and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Forget the bottles and make a difference by drinking clean water straight from your home tap. It’s economical and environmentally-friendly. [3]

Improves the Taste and Smell of Tap Water

Amazingly, some people don’t like tap water. They’ll say they just don’t like the taste. Human beings need water to live — if you don’t like the taste, an under-sink water filter can help improve it. . Our water filtration system, you can enjoy great-tasting water from your own tap every day.

Encourages You to Drink More Water

According to a 2018 study from Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, the average American drinks 45 gallons of soda every year — that’s almost 40 pounds of sugar. Avoid the temptation; stop buying soda, and keep your fridge stocked with refreshing filtered water. [4]

Improves Health

All those sugary drinks have a ruinous effect on our health and lead to diabetes and weight gain.[5] Drinking water protects the body from disease and helps you get control of your health. Unfortunately, municipal water systems and private wells alike can be filled with chemicals, contaminants, and impurities. Our high-quality water filters remove the crud from your tap water, leaving you with pure, safe, healthy water. [6]

Improves Cooking

A high-quality water filter won’t just help you drink better — you’ll eat better, too. If you use bad water for cooking, you’ll get bad-tasting food. However, if you use pure, clean water when you cook, you’ll enjoy the tastiest soups, pastas, chilis, and veggies.[7]

Are Under Sink Filters Better Than Pitchers?

Under sink systems are a much more effective solution to your home water needs. Water filter pitchers are just containers with small built-in filters that you fill with tap water. They’re cheap and easy to use, but they’re very slow to fill, need frequent filter replacement, and aren’t very effective at removing contaminants. Pitcher filters can make water taste a bit better, but they don’t impart many health benefits. Under sink systems have a much more robust filter, longer life, more features, and far more health benefits. [8]
